PCORI Fee to Increase

In Notice 2016-64, IRS increased the patient-centered outcomes research Institute (PCORI) fee for a health plan or policy years ending on or after October 1, 2016
, but before October 1, 2017, by 9 cents to $2.26 times the average number of covered lives under the plan or policy.  The fee was $2.17 for a health plan or policy years ending on or after October 1, 2015, but before October 1, 2016.

This temporary Affordable Care Act fee applies to insured and self-insured group health plans for each plan or policy year ending after Sept. 30, 2012, and before Oct. 1, 2019.

Please remember that health plans with the calendar year plan or policy years will use the new $2.26 rate when calculating the PCORI fee due next July.
