For employers that are either reopening in phases or allowing
some employees to continue to work from home during the pandemic, the question
of who should continue working from home becomes a pressing issue. This article
will provide an overview of best practices for employers to consider when
determining which employees should continue to work from home during the
pandemic.
Review Roles and Responsibilities
While working from home may have been a necessity in the peak of
the COVID-19 pandemic, it may not have been the ideal format for specific
roles. When considering which employees should continue or move to a
work-from-home arrangement, it’s important to evaluate their specific roles and
responsibilities.
For example, if the employee is in a customer-facing role or in a role that requires in-office attendance, working from home may not be feasible.
